Rangers aim for elusive first home win against slumping Hurricanes
The New York Rangers are still searching for their first home win, but are on their best stretch of the opening month. New York seeks its fourth straight win and attempts to avoid starting this season with six straight home defeats Tuesday night when it hosts the Carolina Hurricanes.
Will Cuylle scored 2:42 into overtime to lift the New York Rangers past the Seattle Kraken 3-2 on Saturday night, according to the Associated Press. The overtime win capped a perfect road trip for the Rangers, who have now won three straight. Cuylle, who also had an assist, has recorded points in four consecutive games.
Ten days ago, the Rangers left for their longest road trip of the season after an awful 6-5 overtime loss to the Sharks, the only remaining winless team in the league. They then started the trip with a 5-1 loss to the Flames, the lowest-scoring team in the league and the team at the bottom of the NHL standings.
The Rangers are beginning to see the light -- out West, that is. Home ice – where they still haven't won – is another story.
